Ford Vehicle Maintenance: 10 Tips You Should Know!

All cars for sale St. George have regular maintenance measures that need to be taken to make sure that any car will be good enough for Huntington Beach Toyota dealers. After all, not just a visit to New Bedford body shop is going to cure all of your problems; especially if your engine is not mechanically sound.

Here are ten tips to keep your Ford engine mechanically sound and mechanically safe so that you can take it to any Ford dealer and save face when you go to trade your vehicle in:

1) Windshield Wipers:
  • Windshield wipers for your Ford are suggested to be replaced annually for Southwest climates, and twice a year for Northern climates.
2) Grade of Fuel to Use:
  • Most Ford vehicles can use regular octane fuel when they are cruising on surface streets, but for when you want full-throttle driving with your Ford, higher-octane fuel is the best to be used even though it does not yield any more power or mileage for your Ford vehicle.
3) Garage:
  • It is best to keep your Ford in the garage, if possible to help save the vehicle from any natural environmental factors that could cause both paint to fade, or even ruin your finish!
4) Air Filter Change:
  • Nobody wants a dirty air filter that can hurt your Ford's fuel economy. To prevent this, and to make sure your Ford vehicle is running strong be sure to take note of whether you are in an area with high amounts of pollution. If so, you may want to check your air filter twice as often to make sure it does not be changed.
5) Tune-Up Times:
  • Typically, you want to run your Ford through an overall tune-up every 60,000 and 120,000 miles. In this servicing you will include the timing belt, spark-plug wires and coolant. However, be sure to remember that the spark-plug wires should be changed at least every 100,000 miles.
6) Tire Inflation and Rotation:
  • Tires can leak naturally, that is why you want to check your Ford's tire pressure at least twice a year. If not and you have under-inflated tires they can cause you to burn more gasoline, and make your tires wear quicker then usual. Over-inflated tires can also cause accelerated wear, so make sure they are at the correct tire pressure as well as rotate the rear and front tires often to create an even wear on your tires.
7) Replacing Tires:
  • It is typically hard to tell when your Ford's tires are ready for the next set due to the many factors (heat, sunlight, ozone conditions, etc.) that could cause them to wear or lose their tread quicker. If you are skeptical of how old your tires are, feel free to bring them into a tire shop and have them read you the date of the tires stamped onto the sidewall of the tire.

8) Brakes:
  • It is important to pay attention to the sound, feel, and/or response of your Ford's brakes. If you think that your brakes may need attention from a brake service technician, be sure to get them taken care of ASAP!
9) Tighten Your Gas Cap:
  • Certain problems can occur when your gas cap is not tightened such as your check engine light turning on. This is due to the gas cap defeating the fuel system's fuel arrangement and thus leading you to believe that there is a problem with the engine when it is just a loose gas cap.
10) Frequent Oil Change:
  • Usually all Ford vehicles have a oil change schedule in their owner's manual. Be sure to check in your glove compartment and keep up with the dates and times of when your Ford vehicle is due for it's oil service change to keep it running just a great as the day you bought it!
