Ford and Toyota Sales Drop;

For the month of August, both Ford and Toyota whose models can be purchased at a Toyota Dealer Lexington, two of the largest automakers in the world and in the United States had decreased sales. Consumers simply did not purchase vehicles for this month like they did last year in August because of the Cash for Clunkers program. This program encouraged buyers to trade in their old and fuel inefficient vehicles for more economical vehicles with large incentives for doing so. Ford Lincoln Mercury Dealer Denver businesses are hoping that the next few months will have increased sales or new incentives by the government.

Although August had decreased sales for 2009, this was almost expected a year after a large incentive program. However, the worst part of the decreased sales for the month of August is that they were below even what industry analysts anticipated for the month. Nissan Dealer New York and certain other dealers have continued to do well in spite of the decreased sales, however it is not known whether this trend will continue for the rest of 2010 or turn around in the month of September.
GM's deliveries fell 25 percent from August of 2009 because of the lack of incentives. However, GM's decrease was expected to be only 19 percent, so the increase of 6 percent was a surprise for auto analysts. The greater than expected decrease is a sign that consumers are simply not buying vehicles because of a lack of faith in the economy or for other reasons. Many millions of Americans are currently unemployed and perhaps there are also those who could previously afford to buy a new vehicle who cannot now. United States sales were the slowest for an August in over 28 years.There were various incentives that were offered but these incentives failed to drive consumers to dealerships.

Ford's China Sales at an All-Time High!

Ford has performed very well in the Chinese automobile market over the past few years. Ford announced that for the first half of 2010, Ford has sold over 300,000 units in China. The sales increase is over 50 percent more than in 2009, and it is Ford's largest numbers in China thus far. Ford's partner, Mazda, also performed well in China with sales of over 200,000 units for the first half of 2010. Volkswagen models are sold at Peoria Volkswagen in America, and the automaker has also done well in the Chinese market.

GM, whose models can be found at a Sarasota Chevrolet dealer, has also performed well in China for the first half of 2010, and we may begin to see the traditional American rivalry for the auto market extend into China as well. Buick GMC Birmingham models have shown strong competition to Ford's models in China.

A Ford spokesperson noted that the company is pleased with its Chinese auto sales, and it hopes that the Chinese market continues to purchase Ford vehicles for their stability, fuel efficiency, and design. Ford has sold an increase of over 150,000 passenger cars in China this year as the brand's popularity increases. Ford's January to June sales for 2010 in China have been record breaking and are testimony to the strength of the Chinese auto market.

In particular, the Ford Fiesta has done quite well in the Chinese market. The Fiesta is also a top performer in Europe and is going to be introduced to the United States this year. The Fiesta is a subcompact vehicle that many younger generation singles and couples have purchased in China. The Fiesta has had the strongest increase in sales for Ford in China. The vehicle sold nearly 40,000 units for the first half of 2010, which is a gigantic increase of over 110 percent from 2009

Other units that have done well include the Ford Focus, Ford Mondeo, and Ford S-MAX, which have all shown increases in sales from 2009. Ford will continue to release models that are targeted to different segments of the Chinese market.
