Ford Offers World's First Inflatable Second Row Seat Belt;

Ford has offered the world's first inflatable second row seat belt in its 2011 Ford Explorer model. The Dodge Journey is Chrysler's competing model that also has some excellent safety features and can be found at New York Dodge Dealers. The 2011 Ford Explorer features the latest and most advanced safety technology that Ford has offer. Other models like the Ford Escape have shown to be profitable for the company, and the Ford Escape is currently a more popular SUV model than the Explorer, but Ford hopes to change that with its latest SUV model. Ford also offers industry leading airbags in its Explorer model that help to improve the vehicle's safety ratings.

Volkswagen models such as the Touareg sold at Peoria Volkswagen dealers are also excellent in safety and have the latest safety features. The 2011 Explorer also has a Safety Canopy, Trinity front crash impact structure, and a collision warning system with brake support.

Erika Low, Ford safety supervisor said, “The new Explorer combines – all at once – our best technologies to not only help prevent a crash, but to help prevent injuries to occupants when a crash is unavoidable."

Boron steel which is one of the highest strength steels are used in the body structure of the Explorer. The roof also meets the latest crash safety standards. The Ford Explorer is one of the safest SUVs on the market with all of its latest features, and the purpose of these features are to build up consumer confidence in the model which has been lackluster in past years.

The rear inflatable seat belts are a first for any vehicle. The seat belts spread impact forces across five times more area than traditional seat belts. This reduces pressure on the chest of the accident victim and it helps the victim control head and neck motion in the case of an accident.
