Mercury sales go up 26% for June 2010

Ford is selling off its Mercury inventory ahead of schedule as reported for the month of June. June's Mercury sales were up 26% from 2009, and Ford sold 9,250 Mercury vehicles in the month of June. Ford has set into action its plans to remove Mercury from its vehicle offerings and focus more on its luxury Lincoln brand which can be found at a Cincinnati Ford dealer. Competing Volkswagen and Honda models can be purchased at a discount during VW Deals or through dealer incentives at a Pittsburgh Honda dealer.

Previously, both Mercury and Lincoln were sold side by side at many dealerships, but since Lincoln had recently been outperforming Mercury by a wide margin, Ford found that Mercury was no longer an effective brand for its market. Ford has announced the development of several new and exciting Lincoln models such as the MKZ Hybrid which is the leading hybrid luxury model on the market, and many others over the next few years.

Ford is making moves to reduce nationwide Mercury inventories and announced that its June sales were ahead of schedule for the reduction. Ford is also consolidation formerly Mercury and Lincoln dealerships into solely Lincoln dealerships, and said that the consolidation was speeding up.

June 1 data showed that Ford had approximately 16,000 Mercury vehicles left to be sold. This was a 46 day supply of vehicles according to the rate of vehicle sales at the time. Ford had originally anticipated to sell off its remaining Mercury inventory by December 31st, but the inventory is being cleared out faster than expected.

There are 1,700 dealerships in the United States that sell Ford's Mercury brand, but it was in combination with other brands as there were never any dealerships that sold the Mercury brand alone. Lincoln stores have done better than the Mercury brand and there are numerous Lincoln only stores throughout the nation.
