
Ford recently sold Volvo to Geely as a part of its plan to reduce its model offerings and brands and focus only on what the company does best. Volvo models can be purchased at a Volvo Nashua dealership. As a result, Ford has made major strides in its manufacturing of some of the company's more popular models such as the Ford Fusion and the Ford F-150.
Ford is now the top most considered brand with 29 percent of shoppers considering purchasing a new Ford model. The study only included new and not pre-owned model. Also cracking the top 5 for the first time was South Korean automaker Hyundai. Hyundai has become more popular due to its latest offerings of models like the Elantra and the Sonata which are great and very reliable vehicles.
Toyota used to have the top spot but the company fell off likely in part due to recall news. The latest news have shown that Toyota's electronic throttle control was likely not the cause of vehicle acceleration problems. Toyota has fallen 8 percentage points in consideration since the recalls and the company has made strong efforts to correct the problems and fix the damage to its reputation.
The study questioned over 3,000 new vehicle shoppers on its web site between April 6th and June 17th. The shoppers ranked vehicle durability, reliability, driving comfort, performance, fuel economy and safety as being top factors.
