Recycle Your 2011 Explorer...Later On!

The auto industry SUV market just got a little more competitive!  The Equinox from Cincinnati Chevrolet may be selling faster than dealerships can keep them on the lot, but the new 2011 Ford Explorer is making headlines before it is even available for purchase.  It is larger than the VW Tiguan from Volkswagen Peoria, but some of the cool new features may restore the mantra bigger is better when it comes to automobile purchases.  While it isn't available for purchase yet, some of the technological features and special touches Ford made sure to include may even rival some of the luxury you get from a vehicle at Mercedes-Benz Dealer Lexington.  Plus, even the environmentalists will appreciate that 85% of the new Explorer can be recycled when that time comes.

Ford has been known for using soy foam in their seat cushions for close to a decade now.  The biodegradable material is inexpensive, ecofriendly, and is actually quite comfortable according to consumers.  Ford wants to have their entire line up be made from the soy seats by the end of the 2010 production year.  The engineers at Ford have been busy making ways to improve the auto making process and their goal is to have as much of the process be as green as possible.  The seats in the new Explorer will be made from recycled cloth upholstery.  This turns into using 20% less energy in the interior making part of the assembly process and a 17% reduction in the overall amount of waste that is produced during the assembly process.

Ford is even using left over pieces of steel from the manufacturing process of the Ford F-150.  By doing this, Ford is going to use 119 tons less steel per year.  This scrap piece of steel, essentially, will be used as a noise muffler that will be between the inner and outer shells of the Explorer.
