What Does Your Ford Smell Like?

When you step in a brand new car from Honda Los Angeles, the first thing many drivers comment on is how much they love that new car smell.  Well, several studies have shown that as that new car smell breaks down and goes away, you are inhaling volatile organic compounds that are far from healthy.  All the brand new materials are emitting odors and toxins into your small interior cabin, further a small cabin of air you breathe from.  It doesn't matter where you get your car from, whether it is from Ford or Hyundai Reading.  The interesting thing is that Ford Motor Company has an entire team dedicated to sniffing out things that stink.  Yet, despite their extra efforts, anyone who has been in a new Ford Focus or Explorer will notice that their cars tend to smell foul after a couple months of ownership.  What could possibly be causing that?

Well, when you are using so many different types of materials to make a vehicle, they are bound to interact with one another.  Think about how many different types of material go into making a vehicle.  It isn't like they are 90% cotton with 10% polyester!  That would be far too easy.  While the cars at NC Chevy Dealer are not quite as green as Ford is making their vehicles, people who drive Chevrolet cars don't complain of foul odors coming from their cars within a few months like Ford owners do.

We don't want to blame the odors on the green materials being used, like the soy foam in the seats or the recycled pieces of material for seat upholstery.  Ford and their sniffing engineers have goals of making vehicles without any odor at all, pleasant nor unpleasant.  While they contemplated the idea of using scents favorable to different regions of the world, ultimately vehicles should smell like their owners and not like a smell trying to cover up another smell!
